It was initially called “bio.logis Center for Human Genetics” and founded by the specialist in human genetics, Prof. Dr. med. Daniela Steinberger in August 2009. Since then, the center has participated in medical care with a wide range of genetic diagnostics and counseling.
The center's team consists of experienced doctors, scientists and technical staff. The center has been a partner in Diagnosticum since July 2017. The Diagnosticum is a partnership network of doctors for laboratory medicine, pathology, microbiology and human genetics. Based on the extensive experience gained from the many millions of blood donations tested, GFE has developed and launched the PoET line. With the fully integrated PoET instrument, blood donations can be tested for HCV, HBV, HIV-1/-2, HAV, B19V, HEV and WNV. In addition, we are researching the development of detection systems for infection parameters such as SARS-CoV-2.

At Frankfurter Innovation Center (FiZ) two key departments of Octapharma’s Safety Strategy are situated: Molecular Diagnostics provides PCR testing services in a GMP regulated environment as well as related scientific support for the whole Octapharma group. As demanded by relevant pharmacopoeias, our goal is to ensure that all source material used for production of life saving pharmaceuticals is free of detectable Hepatitis- and Human Immunodeficiency Viruses. Virus and Prion Validation department is responsible for a wide spectrum of virus and prion safety activities. One important aspect of our work is the proof that no contamination with pathogens like viruses or prions puts the patients in danger to get infected by the therapeutic product. Riedberg has meanwhile grown so much that 16,000 people live here and nearly 3000 come to work.
